Dr. Laszlo Simon
Veterinarian and owner of the hospital since February 2010, Dr. Simon graduated from the University of Veterinary Sciences in Budapest, Hungary in 1984. From 1989 to 1992 he was an assistant professor at the department of pathology of the same university. This background in pathology still helps him in his day-to-day work. Dr. Simon has been fully licensed in Canada since 2005. He has special interest in surgery, geriatrics, cardiology, and clinical pathology.
Prior to moving to Parksville with his family, he was an Associate Veterinarian at the Lethbridge Animal Clinic in Alberta for 5.5 years. The Simons are pet owners themselves. They have an Australian Shepherd (Zippy), two cats (Kismacska/Little Cat and Stompy). Laszlo loves sea kayaking, scuba diving, swimming, hiking and he shares all these passions with his family.

Gabriella Simon
Gabriella is the co-owner, business manager, and Veterinary Technician of the hospital and wife of Dr. Simon. She has been in the industry in the past 30 years or so. Gabi enjoys getting to know all of the patients and their owners, and has special interest in pet nutrition and client education. In her spare time she is a bookworm, loves hiking with her family and Zippy, practicing ballet, yoga and most of all cooking and baking big traditional Hungarian meals for her family.

Diana McPhail
Diana is our Registered Veterinary Technician who graduated from Thompson Rivers University in 2018. Diana moved to the Island and joined our practice in November 2011. She enjoys spending her time with her family and her fur baby Caoimhe, going hiking, camping and swimming. Diana is very active and loves her sports, especially soccer. She has a huge soft spot for Rottweilers and American Bulldogs.

Tiffany Hamhuis
Tiffany joined our team in the spring of 2018 as an assistant/receptionist after moving back to Vancouver Island. A career working with animals seemed like the natural progression after a childhood spent rescuing animals, and bringing home everything from stray cats, to horses, to a pregnant dog. She is passionate about the plight of the Northern Dogs in Canada, and currently shares her life with her 2 rescued northern dogs, 2 rescue cats, the sweetest little Lagotto Romagnolo and her retired horse.

Mandy Rusk
Mandy moved to theIsland from the Mainland July 1, 2022 and finally felt like she was home. Mandy has worked with animals for most of her life, volunteering at rescues, and rescuing on her own, working at small pet supply boutiques, and veterinary clinics. Mandy’s has rescued everything from lizards, snakes to praying mantis, from hummingbirds and barn swallows to lovebirds, conures and peacocks, from abandoned bottle fed kittens, bunnies and cleft palate puppies to mini goats, mini donkeys, alpacas, pigs and horses, the list goes on. If Mandy can help an animal in need, she will.
